  1. How freeing this blogpost will be to people with the “success-speak” attitude, as you call it. I can tell you as an introvert that this degree of congruency makes perfect sense.

I’m an INTJ in Meyers Briggs talk. In social situations introverts are often labeled as aloof because we prefer to observe people for a while before we interact. This preference is so helpful in public speaking success to be able to make a conscious decision of how to continue or which direction to go with a well-planned presentation. With intuition highly tuned, when we give ourselves permission to observe the reaction of the audience, we better know if and when to make a presentation adjustment. I think this is one of those factors you talk about when you say, “make sure that your speaking style is not that different from the way you would speak privately to good friends, not in content, but in tone and sincerity.”

    Thanks for the information!

  2. Chris, Your posts always kick-start good thinking. So, thanks. The words and ideas must be mine – that doesn’t mean I ignore quotes that I love from people I respect(I am always careful to credit my sources) – but if the script is mine, it is easy to raise the energy level and have fun with the audience.
